1/2019-PRES

THE COMPASS SCHOOL, Westminster, VT- Art Teacher, Middle and High School age students

2001-PRES

FLYING CANVAS STUDIO, Gallery and Studio, N Westminster, VT

  • Facilitate workshops in my studio in floor cloth painting and collage

  • Facilitate Exploratory afterschool arts programs throughout school year at Compass School, Westminster, VT including collage, writing and set design.

  • Provide support to seniors committed to remaining at home with regularly scheduled visits and art supplies

  • Supervise graphic design intern from Keene State College to create fabric designs with my original paintings, 160 hrs/semester

  • Artist-in-Residence in local schools, 2002-2014

  • Ran an after-school and summer program introducing over 50 children to art expression in my studio and at other local schools, 2002-2011

  • Wrote collage/book making curriculum for Teacher’s Guide published by Great River Arts Institute

  • Launched Flying Canvas Studio, online business offering custom painted floor cloths and wall art

  • Participate in VT Craft Council Open Studio Weekend in addition to others throughout the year, 2013-pres

1994-2001

CENTER FOR ARTISTIC EXPRESSION, Gallery and Studio, Hudson, MA

This was a community based art center offering classes and workshops, performance, exhibition and studio space for artists and students. It was founded, owned and operated by myself and a business partner. In 1997 I took over as sole proprietor.

  • Developed successful summer art program and instructed art classes, providing 100 kids each summer with a progressive, creativity nurturing environment

  • Taught drawing and painting to students of all ages both private lessons and groups

  • Coordinated weekly figure drawing open studio for 12 years

  • Taught art at St Mary’s, Catholic private high school during a 1/2 year leave of absence

  • Curated 10 Gallery shows every year

  • Managed call for artists and juried selection

  • Identified community needs, envisioned concept and developed business plan

  • Managed back-office business activities including staff scheduling, accounting, contracts, and payroll

  • Developed quarterly calendar of art classes, research and hired artists as needed, including weekly figure drawing open studio

  • Spearheaded guerrilla marketing efforts to increase awareness for the center.
